RSPCA Million Paws walk Gold Coast

04 15th, 2008 Author: SnootyPaws

The RSPCA million paws walk is on the 18th May 2008.

Grab your pet, your kids, family or friends and get out there! I volunteered for it last year and it was so much fun. There were dogs of all shapes and sizes from the Great Dane to the teacup poodle and some were dressed in cute outfits, wearing t-shirts or being decorated with spray paint from one of the RSPCA volunteers.

It’s on at Pizzy Park on the Gold Coast in Miami and also at North Tamborine at the Geissmann Street Sports Oval.

For more details on the Miami walk click here or for the North Tamborine one click here.

Prices for registration are below and the money raised goes towards helping animals in need!

Adult – $10
Children – $5
Family (2 adults/2 child) – $20
Concession – $5
Team (min 5 members) – $8 per member

Love animals? Want to do some good in 2008? Good. Because the Gold Coast Animal Welfare Leage needs your help to volunteer at this years It’s a Dog’s Breakfast event.

This event is huge!! There’s games, celebrities, giveaways, BBQ & food stalls, market stalls, merchandise, GC Radio DJs and hydrobathing!

Even if you can only spare an hour or two it’s great fun, you’ll meet lots of other animal loving volunteers and you’ll feel great about yourself because you’ll be helping others!

They DESPERATELY need volunteers to help set up and dismantle tents, do registrations, sell merchandise, walk around with donation tins, do face painting, spray ‘tattoos’ on dogs and lots more! They’re also after any spare marquees or if you could put your ute or van to good use to help ferry supplies from the AWL to the event.

I will be there and I volunteered for the RSPCA million paws walk for the first time last year and it was great to see so many happy people out with their best friends. Lots of animals (and owners) get into the spirit and dress up too.

When:   Sunday 24th February 2008
Time:    Public attend 7am – 10.30am.
Time:    Volunteers and staff attend 5.30am til 11.30ish. Even if you can’t do the full shift we still need you!
Where:  Doug Jennings Park at The Spit, Gold Coast.

To volunteer contact:

Kerry Murphy
Volunteer Co-ordinator
Ph:  (07) 5509 9019

If you’d still love to volunteer but can’t make it to this event then still contact the AWL because they always need volunteers to walk dogs, clean out pens and pat the cats to help them be sociable with people.

RSPCA Blessing of the Animals on the Gold Coast

10 17th, 2007 Author: SnootyPaws

This Sunday the RSPCA is hosting a blessing of the animals on the Gold Coast at the Trinity Anglican Mission church. The blessing of the animals is a custom in remembrance of St Francis of Assisi who loved all animals.

Bring your pet (dog, cat, bird, fish – all species are invited!) to be blessed at 9:30am. I would bring our burmese cat Jackson but he’s not a fan of his carry cage (due to it’s association with going to the vets or friends places when we go away) and he isn’t a fan of dogs….

The Trinity Anglican Mission is located at: 186 Robina Town Centre Drive. For more info call 07 5578 8914.
